The Life Journey

Dr. Richard Warburg works at the intersection of analytical rigor and creative expression, bringing evidence-based thinking to everything from patent law, to artistic creation to social justice advocacy.

Education & Early Career:

BSc Genetics (Birmingham University, 1978) → PhD Molecular Biology (Birmingham University, 1981) → Law Degree (Suffolk University, valedictorian magna cum laude, 1990). Post-doctoral work at Brandeis University, teaching positions at Wellesley College and University of Massachusetts.

Professional Expertise:

30+ years in intellectual property law, specializing in world wide biotechnology and pharmaceutical patent prosecution and litigation. Partner at major law firms including Foley & Lardner and Lyon & Lyon. Currently active in venture capital and IP consulting through various partnerships.

Creative Discovery:

In his 50s, began experiencing vivid dreams that led to an unexpected artistic awakening. Self-taught painter whose work demonstrates that analytical minds can be deeply creative. Also a world champion ballroom dancer (Las Vegas, 2007), showing that precision and artistry are complementary skills.

Literary Work:

Author of books spanning health science, artistic discovery, and social advocacy. Currently developing evidence-based guides to human understanding and science fiction exploring future societies. As literary executor for his parents’ estates, continues their creative legacy while developing his own voice.

Current Mission:

Bringing scientific rigor to social justice advocacy, particularly human diversity and understanding. Believes that evidence-based thinking enhances rather than diminishes creative and social work.

Lives in St. Thomas, USVI. Continues to bridge multiple worlds—science and art, analysis and creativity, professional expertise and social advocacy.
